Welcome to the first edition of On-Farm Network® News&Notes, which will focus on our activities in researching and promoting the use of newer technologies, strategies and practices that can help growers improve their profits and conservation efforts. Through this newsletter, you'll get to meet people involved in the various regional programs, learn more about implementing adaptive management locally, and follow the growth of the On-Farm Network into the Upper Mississippi River Basin, along the Western Lake Erie Basin, and into the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Maumee Maumee On-Farm Network®
Launched in 2008, the Maumee On-Farm Network® started with 25 farmers in northwest Ohio managing about 5,000 acres, and has grown to 86 farmers in Ohio and Indiana who collectively manage some 140,000 acres within the Maumee River watershed. Read more

Dan Moore Adaptive Management Symposia for Professionals
Sheila Hebenstreit, an On-Farm Network® group leader, commercial crop advisor, and a director on the Iowa Soybean Association board, presented "Benefits of Interactive Meetings with Farmers" at a symposium on adaptive management at the annual SSSA in Long Beach, CA in early November. Read more

Remote Sensing Expected changes in NRCS standard could make Adaptive Management easier
When it comes to nutrient management, NRCS's 590 Standard is front and center. This standard guides what NRCS will pay for through programs like EQIP and CSP and what the agency's priorities and approach are for advancing nutrient management. To date, implementing adaptive management through the 590 Standard has been a challenge, but we expect that to change in the near future. Read more
